Issue 4: Education extended beyond traditional venues through a series of public readings and conversations. One was held at Street Seats—a NY2044 newsbox designed by Parsons Students integrated into their DOT approved outdoor seating design at 13th Street and 5th Avenue. The NY2044 Mobile newsstand also travelled to Washington Square Park. Bringing speculative journalism into shared civic spaces, the event invited New Yorkers to reflect on the future of education, work, democracy, and AI.

The future is now available underground. Free copies of New York 2044 can be found at WhiteBox Portable, a contemporary art space in the Times Square–42nd Street subway station, where imagination, public space, and everyday transit converge.
Issue #3 of New York 2044 was launched on February 27 with an evening of readings, conversation, and activations around the future we want for our city. Co-presented by Urban Omnibus.

We are thrilled to present Noah Fischer’s New York 2044, a commissioned artwork, news piece, and social sculpture at WhiteBox. This project joining the WhiteBox GreenBox/ISLA Summer ’24 program Expanded Narratives on Art and Ecology, highlights the challenges of urban sustainability, particularly when a significant portion of the population continues to struggle with the lack of affordable housing.

Issue #2 of New York 2044 launched on October 5th 2024 (in collaboration with Jacob Cohen, Luna Fischer, and Ricardo Miranda Zuñiga’s esfuerzo project), at Everyone Who Lives Here is a New Yorker: An Afternoon of Art, Music & Dance Celebrating the Diversity of NYC.
